Alex’s role in the team is account executive, supporting our national membership to access our wide-ranging solution portfolio. She joined NHC Procurement in 2024, and shares an insight to her day-to-day role, her favourite words of advice, and what she does to switch-off.
What attracted you to your role?
I heard about the role through another member of the NHC Procurement team, and thought it was an amazing opportunity. Currently, I am living with a long-term health condition and when reading about the organisation’s values and commitment to a healthy work/life balance with options of flexible and agile working, I knew that this role would be perfectly suited to me. The wider team of colleagues at Northern Housing Consortium is so supportive, and I am proud to be a part of such an influential organisation.
Describe your typical day?
I manage a portfolio of member accounts, engaging regularly with designated members to ensure relationships are built, maintained, and strengthened. Building those relationships day-to-day gives me an understanding of the member’s procurement needs, and so I can support them in the best way.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
Celebrate your achievements.
What do you like to do to switch-off?
I am a huge film and documentary lover. I enjoy listening to podcasts or getting lost in a great book. Also hiking in the Lake District or Scotland, spending time with family and friends, and taking our puppy Nala on long walks.
How would you sum up working for NHC Procurement, in three words?
Supportive, engaging, collaborative.
Can you share your favourite daily mantra?
“Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if only one remembers to turn on the light”
